T&B PizzaT&B Pizza is the most recent restaurant brought to the Union Square area in Somerville by the husband and wife team, Tim and Bronwyn Wiechmann. No boring food here. Offering an eccentric menu of Neapolitan pizzas and thick Roman Al Taglio pies all fired in a custom wood-burning oven created by Maine Wood Heat Co., from the dough to the fixings, these aren’t your average pies. Starting with a unique and protracted fermentation period for the dough, these artisan style personal-sized treats come with above average toppings such as raclette cheese, kielbasa and green peppers, pistachio mortadella, and rum-soaked pineapple.
Walking by the storefront at street level you can’t mistake what’s going on inside. The large copper and steel pizza oven sits right at window level, showcasing the beauty of the spaces premier feature. The restaurant is located in what was once 2 separate storefronts, one an office space and the other a convenience store. Sewing these 2 spaces back together was a key element of the design. A custom built mahogany shelf system sits over the divide and anchors the space between the bar and kitchen. The matching mahogany bar top, custom tables, and one of a kind artwork add a warmth to the space which is only out done by the glow of the wood fire. So next time you’re in Union Square, stop by for a cocktail and a slice, and while you’re in the area, make sure to check out their other restaurant, Bronywn (a German sausage parlor) just 2 doors down.
