GRoton stair and home theatre

For our Groton, MA project, we removed and replaced an existing, non-code conforming spiral staircase with a new compliant metal stair. Opening a custom built hatch at the top of the stairs leads to a fully renovated home theatre, bringing function to a room that was once a transitional area. 

​The iron and wood tread stairs create a dramatic focal point as you enter the residence on the ground floor, but are hidden completely by the hatch from the second floor, closing off the theatre room from unwanted light and sound.
